Rabbi Ilyse Kramer is a long-time educator and former director of life long learning at Gesher in Harrisburg, PA. She is currently the director of Kesher: Connection at Columbia Jewish Congregation in Columbia, Maryland. She has extensive educational experience with both children and adults.
- Best way to reach students is to ask them what they think.
- Give students content that is meaningful.
- Encourage students to think.
- Learn to tell a compelling story.
- Show that you really care about your students.
- Allow students to ask tough questions.
- Your job is not to answer all their questions, it is to plant the seeds for continued learning.
- Students are not receptacles for receiving knowledge, involve them in the process.
